Host/Hostess [United Arab Emirates]

As a Hostess, your main responsibility is to ensure that guests have a pleasant experience at a restaurant, hotel, or any other establishment where you are employed. Your specific job duties may vary depending on the type of establishment you work in, but generally, as a Hostess, you can expect to:

Greet and welcome guests: When guests arrive, you will be the first point of contact. You will greet them with a friendly and welcoming attitude, make them feel comfortable, and direct them to their tables or waiting areas.

Manage reservations: If the establishment accepts reservations, you will be responsible for managing them. This includes taking reservations over the phone, entering them into the reservation system, and ensuring that tables are properly allocated and prepared for guests.

Seat guests: When guests arrive without reservations or walk-ins, you will need to manage the seating arrangements. You will assess table availability, estimate waiting times, and seat guests in an efficient and organized manner, considering their preferences and any special requests.

Provide menus and assist with orders: You will hand out menus to guests, answer any questions they may have about the menu or specials, and provide recommendations if requested. Additionally, you may assist in taking orders, especially during busy times or if the servers require support.

Maintain waiting areas: You will ensure that waiting areas are clean, organized, and comfortable for guests. This includes tidying up tables, restocking brochures or menus, and providing assistance or updates to waiting guests.

Coordinate with servers and kitchen staff: Effective communication with the serving and kitchen staff is crucial. You will notify servers when their tables are ready, convey any special requests or requirements from guests, and ensure a smooth flow of service between the front and back of the house.

Handle guest inquiries and complaints: As a frontline representative, you will address guest inquiries, resolve minor complaints or issues, and escalate more significant concerns to the appropriate personnel, such as a manager or supervisor.

Maintain knowledge of the establishment: You will stay updated on the establishment's offerings, such as the menu, daily specials, promotions, and any upcoming events. This knowledge will enable you to provide accurate information to guests and promote the establishment's offerings.

Assist with overall service: Depending on the needs of the establishment, you may be asked to help with other tasks related to customer service, such as clearing tables, refilling water glasses, or assisting with other front-of-house duties.
