The Quality Technician Lead directs the testing process in the lab for our manufacturing operations; testing is performed on raw materials and in-process testing. This position also conducts quality audits, assist in plant trials, maintains a safe and clean working environment, and assists in lab maintenance and organization.
Essential Functions include:
- Responsible for adherence to company policies including safety and the use of personal protective equipment. Responsible for following all documented procedures and standards in the department.
- Reviews data logs in manufacturing department to ensure consistent quality standards are met.
- Generates quality reports from operating system for senior managements review.
- Conducts chemical and physical property tests on raw materials and finished goods.
- Partners with employees and managers in manufacturing department to ensure consistent adherence to quality standards. Interacts with all levels in the company.
- Performs regular calibrations of the equipment in the quality control department.
- Responsible for adherence to company policies including safety and the use of personal protective equipment.
- Responsible for evaluating and monitoring production processes and product quality.
- Effectively communicates with plant personnel, maintenance, operations, warehouse personnel and plant management.
- Performs audits of testing procedures used by lab technicians and production personnel performing quality tests.
- Update and maintain test procedure documentation.
- Assists with external and internal audits.
- Provides quality training for new employees.
- Provides oversight of periodic maintenance of lab and production test equipment.
- Maintains master samples (blends, shingles, and sample boards)
Knowledge, Education, and Experience
AS/BS in scientific or technical field; or HS Diploma/GED with previous manufacturing experience is required. Previous experience as a quality technician, process technician, operations technician, or work in a manufacturing environment is desired. Ability to exercise independent judgment within established policies and procedures including the authority and responsibility to withhold materials and shipments as situations arise. Identify and implement strategies that enable parties with different or opposing outlooks to recognize common goals and work together to achieve them.
