The position

By joining our team in Projects, Drilling & Procurement you will have the opportunity to:

Work as a department leader with responsibility for supplying complex investment projects with Mechanical and HVAC Technology competence, both in early phase and execution.

  • Ensure right personnel and competence to the right tasks according to business needs.
  • Support, motivate and develop competence to ensure professional project execution within mechanical and HVAC disciplines.
  • Ensure that behavior and deliveries are compliant and in accordance with best practice.
  • Promote multidiscipline understanding and flexibility within project development across the value chain in close cooperation with the professional ladder.
  • Drive changes in Equinor and in accordance with Equinor business needs.
  • Further develop the department to an attractive, highly competent and well-reputed organization.
  • Contribute to the successful deliveries and efficiency of the Area Engineering (AE) management team.
  • Shape and develop resource efficient project development.
  • Shape and develop Area Engineering for the energy transition.
  • Facility Engineering - The Area Engineering Competence Center supports projects within Oil & Gas, Renewable and Low Carbon projects. We are located with departments in Stavanger, Bergen, Oslo and Stjørdal supporting Equinor, Joint Ventures and Partner Operated projects worldwide.


Area Engineering is a multidisciplinary resource and competence sector with eight departments (circa 150 employees) with the responsibility for supplying projects with competence within; architecture, civil, HVAC, materials, mechanical, piping and layout and offshore structures.


As a Department Leader in Area Engineering for HVAC and Mechanical disciplines, you will be leader of about 30 employees and consultants working within these disciplines. As Department Leader, you will be responsible for driving the team's success through providing strategic guidance, and close personnel follow up, including people development and ensuring high quality delivery from your team across the project portfolio.

  • University degree (MSc / BSc) or equivalent education within technical discipline. Relevant experience may compensate for formal qualifications.
  • Knowledge to Equinor’s Capital Value Process (CVP) and Project Development (PD) process.
  • Experience from facility project development and/or execution.
  • Clear business mind-set and customer orientation.
  • High collaboration and leadership skills. Good communicator, both oral and written.
  • Ability to drive change processes; creating motivation and ownership.
  • Good business and commercial understanding.
