JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
Patient Care Process
- Provides non-judgmental care towards all patients, regardless of lifestyle, race, religion or beliefs
- Provides courteous and safe patient transportation to all departments
- Responds with in 3 minutes to all calls
- Prioritizes transportation requests promptly and accurately
- Verifies correct patient using 2 patient identifiers
- Promotes patient safety by maintaining appropriate safety measures – side rails, patient alignment, safety straps, wheel chairs locks
- Locates and obtains appropriates mode of transportation for patient needing transport
- Informs the receiving unit of patients arrival
- Places Patients back on telemetry and ensures the nurse and the tele technician is aware and telemetry stream is functioning
- Requests assistance when needed to transport a patient
- Assess patients activity to determine is special equipment is needed
- Offers assistance to others as time allows
- Uses Lift Equipment to mobilize patients at all times
- Demonstrates flexibility in compliance with staffing and other unit work routines
- Participates in unit performance improvement process as assigned
- Participates in maintaining safe working environment for patient / colleagues
- Identifies patients at high risk for potential injury and acts to minimize risks
- Maintains safe working environment, able to verbalize potential safety hazards and how to deal with them
- Identifies at risk situations and maintains preventive measures (falls, preventive skin care, protective restraint, isolation)
- Assists patients identified through scheduling that need assistance from parking lot to their procedure
- Promotes patient safety in the work environment by maintaining appropriate safety measures, call bell in reach, side rails up, proper patient alignment
- Provides all units with assistance transporting deceased patients to the morgue (using 2 staff) and lift equipment
- Verifies the correct patient with the mortician upon request
- Removes deceased patient from morgue and transports body to mortician

- Consults direct care RN when seeking solutions on patient care problems
- Informs direct care RN of any changes in patient s condition
- Deals with interpersonal conflicts directly and in private, reporting irreconcilable differences and unprofessional behavior to Facilities Director in an appropriate and timely manner
- Initiates activities when patient census is down, stocking rooms, cleaning up different areas within the unit
- Demonstrate support for team members, to ensure the team accomplishes goals. Exemplifies team loyalty
- Seeks out constructive feedback. Shares opinions with respect
- Problem solves independently at their level, escalates when necessary
- Demonstrates ability to operate all equipment required to perform job safely, per manufacture guidelines and hospital policy
- Maintains traction equipment and room.
- Installs over bed frames and traction equipment per request
- Maintains cast carts
- Maintains a safe, uncluttered working environment ensures all egresses are easily accessible
- Reports concerns that impact safe patient unit operations to charge RN
- Maintains department specific skills
- Utilizes patient mobilization equipment
- Completes all trainings on time
Communication
- Communicates using lines of authority as appropriate to ensure quality patient care
- Establishes positive rapport with patients, families/support systems, physicians and co-workers
- Communicates with patients, family/support systems in a positive professional manner, answers questions as needed
- Communicates with departments accepting patients for procedures
- Utilizes closed loop communication to ensure messages are received and acknowledged to ensure safe patient care
- Demonstrates courteous oral/telephone skills

EDUCATION
- Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.
- HS Diploma or equivalent education/experience
- Associate's
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE
- CNA-Certified Nurse Assistant
- BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN:
- Previous experience in patient transportation is desirable.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE
- Medical Terminology
- Ability to work with all levels of nursing personnel and assist them in a resource capacity, effective English written and verbal communication skills.
PAY RANGE: $ 26.65 - $ 33.47 / hour
The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled. Compensation takes into account several factors including but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, department equity, training and organizational needs. Base pay is just one piece of the total rewards program offered by Sutter Health. Eligible roles also qualify for a comprehensive benefits package.
