We are currently recruiting for the position of Instrument Scientist for Test Beamline. This is a critical role that exists within the Instrument Scientists Group of the Neutron Scattering Systems (NSS) Division. Further, your responsibilities and qualifications will include:

Your role
- Support the lead test beamline scientist in completion and commissioning of the test beamline.
- Prepare the test plan for measurements on the test beamline.
- Perform neutronic simulations in support of preparations for beam on target and test beamline measurements
- Perform calibration and test measurements on detector systems using sealed sources and other spallation sources.
- Work with instrument scientists in developing connection of instrument commissioning plans to test beamline measurements
- Co-ordinate and perform neutron beam flux and profile measurements on instruments
- Conduct scientific or technical research and author scientific or technical publications
- Take part in peer review of scientific publications, grant proposals, research, and facilities
- Represent ESS at appropriate conferences and workshops
- Supervise students and participate in teaching, as appropriate
Required qualifications
- PhD in physics
- Expertise in performing monte-carlo neutronics simulations (MCNP/PHITS) and activation analysis
- Expertise in performing neutron imaging measurements
- Excellent written english

- to the Instrument Scientist for Test Beamlines and Engineering for timely and correct execution of responsibilities
- to the ESS for ensuring successful commissioning and operations of the ESS Test Beamline
- to the Instrument Scientists Group Leader for timely and correct execution of duties to students for ensuring adequate supervision of their work
- to fellow staff, for effective communication and safe and professional conduct
Duration & Location
The position is a fixed-term, full-time position for 3 years and is located in Lund, Sweden.
