Learning and Development Manager, Asia [South Korea]

Role purpose

Design and deliver training solutions for Asia based on the needs collected and continuously monitor the training effectiveness and gaps.

Primary Accountabilities

This role will dedicate 50% of time to Korea office training and the rest 50% other Asia offices training.

  • Partner with Talent Development Manager, Asia and HRBPs to understand capability gaps and development priorities across the region
  • Drive the delivery of annual global and regional talent development initiatives, through formal leaning interventions, digital learning and/or alternative approaches to development with the aim to enhance people’s capabilities in the region
  • Create regional/local calendars of learning and development activity; with consideration for capability and capacity to design and deliver internally-led workshops, plus budget availability for external providers
  • Ensure HR Managers/Retail Trainers/other facilitators of internally-led workshops feel equipped and confident to facilitate. Provide upskilling in facilitation and coaching skills where necessary
  • Create list of recommended external learning providers (both global and local). Source and screen qualified vendors for new training needs
  • Partner with Talent Development Manager, Asia and HR Managers to achieve effective management of local training budgets and promote Study Support Guidelines to enable individuals to gain support for technical/specialist training required to perform in a role
  • Encourage and facilitate personal ownership for career development, clarifying options based on Experience, Exposure, Education principles
  • Continuously monitor the training outcomes and propose improvement actions
  • Gather additional data on anticipated skills requirements for the future

Technical Requirements (or Certification Requirements)

  • Training certifications
  • Coaching certification
  • Instructional design
  • Formal education in adult learning preferred
  • Good command in English and Korean. Cantonese and/or Mandarin is a plus.

Key Experience, Knowledge & Skills Required

  • Proven track record of creating and delivering contents from scratch
  • Excellent facilitation and coaching skills, including virtual delivery
  • Confidence with HRIS
  • Experience in retail, customer service or hospitality environment
  • Facilitation and coaching to people manager level
  • Selecting and engaging external vendors
  • Experience sourcing and working with digital learning content
  • Proven ability in change leadership
